David joined Blackoak Capital in 2013 and has over 20 years of experience in real estate investment, asset management and finance in Australia and the United Kingdom. He is responsible for the execution of the firm’s strategy and the day-to-day management of the firm.
Before joining Blackoak, David was a Partner at Brockton Capital LLP, a UK focused Private Equity Real Estate Manager based in London with c.$1.27 billion of institutional capital under management across two funds with gross assets under management of $2.44 billion. Whilst at Brockton, David was responsible for origination and management of investments across office, retail, industrial and leisure sectors as well as asset backed businesses totalling $460 million. He was also a member of the Brockton Capital Fund II Investment Committee. David has been involved in realisations averaging 31.9% IRR on assets acquired between 2006 – 2011. During his nine years in London he also worked at Canary Wharf Group plc, the largest developer of commercial space in London with over 16.0 million sq ft of Grade A offices and over 200 shops, bars and restaurants. During his time at Canary Wharf, David was involved in numerous projects including the successful bid for the 6.5 million sq ft mixed use Wood Wharf project with an end value in excess of $3.9 billion; the sale of over $1.9 billion of assets; the restructuring of the group’s c.$4.9 billion securitisation; and other group and parent company refinancing’s of c. $3.1 billion.
David holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and has a graduate diploma in Applied Investment from the Financial Services Institute of Australasia of which he is a Fellow.
